Laboratory Sciences
Recently, Public Health Laboratories have found themselves at the forefront of Public Health Preparedness activities such as bioterrorism and pandemic influenza response, developing new and innovative methodologies for diagnostic testing, as well as participating in cutting edge technology projects such as electronic laboratory reporting. The CDC Laboratory Response Network (LRN) has allowed local, regional and state public health laboratories to partner and become connected in new and exciting ways. PHFE Consulting Services has been directly involved in supporting laboratory activities in public health laboratories across the United States. PHFE Consulting Services employees have helped design and implement new electronic laboratory surveillance systems, new methods of disease detection and implemented broad scale quality improvement initiatives. PHFE Consulting is intimately familiar with the challenges involved in implementing laboratory management software, including the standard vocabularies and coding systems (Hl-7, LOINC, SNOMED, etc.) required by federal initiatives such as PHIN and NHIN.
Some examples of Public Health Laboratory Science services PHFE Consulting Services offer are:
- Microbiology and Molecular Biology
- Virology and Parisitology
- Electronic Laboratory Reporting Systems Design and Implementation
- Implementing Standard Code Sets and Messaging Protocols (e.g. HL-7, SNOMED, LOINC)
